LAKE CUMBERLAND UMPIRES ASSOCIATION
POLICY GUIDE
1. Check and double check all dates sent by supervisor.
2. Call partner 24 hours prior to game, regardless of game location. Make sure you have a contact with partner.
3. Dress should be same for all members of crew. When contacting partner, discuss dress in detail.
4. Pre-games are important. If driving together to game, do pre-games in the car. If meeting your partner at the site, allow enough time to have a pre-game prior to the contest.
5. Mileage is paid at $20 for 75 miles or more (round trip).
All game/travel fees are sent to the schools by my office. In almost all cases the person working the plate for the varsity or first game will be the mileage recipient for the assignment.
6. Any problem with fee payment from schools should only be discussed with this office.
7. Please be familiar with all KHSAA guidelines regarding officials ethical responsibilities. This is a must.
8. Disqualification reports should always be sent in a timely manner. Unless you feel there was a major on-field incident, my office does not need a copy.
9. All unsportsmanlike concerns prior to or after your responsibilities begin or end should be sent in writing to this office.
10. Tobacco products are prohibited on or within the vicinity of the playing fields.
11. Timely arrival is important. Please give yourself 10-15 minutes prior to game time as your arrival time at the game site.
12. Rain days are a major concern for umpire and school. Please double check with school on questionable days or as a last resort, call this office.
13. All KHSAA fees and association dues must be paid before schedules can be mailed.
14. Coaches/Umpires will have the opportunity to rate at the end of the season. These ratings aid the supervisor in assigning post-season contests.
15. Commitment to accepted assignments is a must. Supervisors expect staff to accept games on open dates. Closed date form should be updated on a regular basis. Umpires returning games to work games at a lower level or for less travel, more net pay, etc., will be dropped from the staff.
16. Umpires wanting to honor their commitment to Freshman or Middle School games should simply close these dates on the supervisor’s closed date record.
